used RX-7 issues
Lets say i wanted to buy a used 93 RX-7 what would i have to do to make it reliable or from breaking down? I heard these things blow up at 80,000 miles cuz of apex seals or something. Please help i don;t know if i should get an MR2 or RX-7. The MR2 is cheaper and more reliable, but the RX-7 has "uuuhhh" and is rare. If i could make the RX-7 as reliable as the MR2 i would pick it. Thanks

thre is a lot to know about owning and maintaining an RX-7. this is a glood place to start for sure. First of all, the engine won't blow at 80,000 miles, it's just that some people are idiots and don't know how to maintain them. the turbo rx-7s are less reliable, wich the 93 is. To make it reliable, I would recomend switching from twin turbo to single, and upgrading the cooling system wiht maybe a better radiator or duel oil coolers. That's just a place to start.

Would rebuilding the engine give me reliability? And how much would that cost?

Re: used RX-7 issues
Rebuilding is only needed when the engine really has a problem when you need to rebuild it. when you do rebuild it, you can buy higher performance apex seals to help reliability.

Re: used RX-7 issues
So basically i should jus buy a used RX-7 and when it breaks down on me than rebuild it? If so how much is a complete rebuild? and wat exactly is replaced in an engine rebuild?
