Lotus Cortina mk.1 or mk.2

Hi everybody, I am a newly registered member here but I have been lurking for quite a while now. This is an awesome forum with some amazing builders and quality information in it, great job.

While I'm here, I was wondering if anybody could help me locate any models of the Lotus Cortina (mk1 or mk2). Preferably in 1/24 or bigger. I would like to make one in the original white with racing green stripe livery.

Cheers,

AJ

Re: Lotus Cortina mk.1 or mk.2

I have an original Joker made Lotus Cortina Mk1. I believe Scalekraft bought the mold or is making their own off of an original Joker cast. I bought mine about 2 years ago from a guy in New Zealand who had 2 of them. I bought it with the intention of making a mold of it and casting dupe's to paint in the different team paint schemes. The Joker kit requires you to use the chassis of a fujimi skyline (early square bodied) Whats keeping me from making the molds is the photo etch. I have to find a source to make a bundle of the photo etching's.

Scalekraft was the only ones I was able to find. I am not that great a scratch builder though and would worry about the work involved. It's a shame none of the mass market manafacturers decided to make a model of this car. I would love to see any of the following cars from a mass producer for that matter:

Lotus Sunbeam
Metro 6R4
Mk.1 Escort (RS1600, RS1800, RS2000 etc etc)
Fiesta Supersport
Escort Mk3. RS Turbo or RS1600i
Triumph Dolomite
BMW 2002tii
Rover 35000 V8

Ahh the list goes on...

I'm sorry to bring this somewhat old thread up, but a BMW 2002 is avaible.

It's made by Scala43. They specialise in 1/43 resin kits but they have a nice range of 1/24 BMW resin kits.

BMW 1600 ti Alpina

BMW 2002

BMW 2002

BMW 2002 Schnitzer

BMW 2002 Schnitzer

BMW 2002

I haven't built any of them so I can't say anything about the quality )from what I've heard it's good), but I'm hoping to get my hands on one next year.

Re: Lotus Cortina mk.1 or mk.2

Technoman, Scale Kraft makes a 1/24th Lotus Cortina that is well done. It is curbside but with some work an engine could be added; you would have to with talk with Scale Kraft about which one would be correct, he told me once, but I've forgotten. The kit contains body and chassis, interior door panels, front and rear seats, dash, steering wheel, tires, wheels and unchromed hubcaps, vacformed glass, self stick chrome badges, and photoetched grille, windshield wipers, doorhandles, and a few miscellaneous bits. PM me and I can send you an image. Ettore

Try http://www.avn-modelcars.com and http://www.grandprixmodels.com

Or you could try and Email Scala43. Maybe you can order directly from them. Their Email should be somewhere on http://www.scala43.com
