Hi guys,
I have a ’95 740i with a climate control problem. As you know, when the heater is set to auto (rather than air directed to feet, defrost, or vent), the vents do not direct any air until the cabin reaches set-point. Once set-point is reached, the vents start air flow with temperature according to the wheel setting. On mine car, the passenger side vents works properly, i.e., the temperature wheel properly controls the air temperature. The driver's side, however, only blows cold air regardless of the wheel setting. Is this caused by a faulty heater temperature sensor? If so, where can I find details on how to replace the sensor? Thanks, Mike |

Re: Cold air, driver's vent only
the heater 'temp sensor' and the 'heater valve' would effect the air temp in the foot wells also, which doesn't seem to be your concern. it sounds like a ventilation door 'stepper motor' or control unit problem....these 'stepper motors' ARE problematic on these cars and can actually break off the heater box. unfortunately you'll need to see someone VERY familiar with 740i's and the IHK system to properly diagnose it.
