Tin can popping noise in gas tank

I posted earlier about my fuel pump in my 1999 (old style) Z71 making the loud humming noise...which I need to gave replaced sometime soon. I now hear a pop noise about 1 minute after I turn off the truck. It sounds like a tin can popping (just one pop) from pressure and it's coming from the gas tank area...Actually pretty loud noise...Anyone know what I might be?
Thanks, Bouzer

My 1997 Suburban used to do this and I have heard several others do it on ocasion, and on mine it was the muffler cooling off and relaxing. As they heat up they expand and warp, cool off and return to original.
