1998 Chevrolet Silverado. I assume that my blinker/cruise/wiper lever must need to be replaced. It is all one unit. My wipers act really crazy when I turn them on and when I turn my blinker on it blows the fuse to the brake lights. I got the cheapest quote from AutoZone at $150. Most importantly, Is it very difficult to replace? Does anyone know how to do it? It appears that I can take the top cover off behind the steering wheel by removing the star screw.

Do you tilt your steering wheel a lot? Sounds like you may have a short in your wiring harness???

No, I cant say that I ever do that. It has been in the same position as far as I can remember. I described the situation to someone at the auto parts store and he seemed to think that this lever was the problem too. Im not a mechanic and have never seen this before so Im not sure. Im just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Its hard to believe that no one has. I guess they are just not reading this post.

Re: 98 Silverado blinker/cruise/wiper lever
One of my buds truck did this on his 94 that he uses as a service truck for his logging crew. He replaced the switch your talking of about 3 years ago and he hasn't had any other problems.
