starting help please..also posted in yukon forum
Hi....I have a 1995 yukon 5.7 tb....been having problems starting. Cold start requires 5-7 seconds of cranking. a warm start requires alot of cranking and sometimes it will not start at all. I've changed the fuel filter put in new plugs...no differance.I can hear the fuel pump run...after much cranking i can smell gas under the hood....so it seems the fuel pump is working....any help would be for a weekend mechanic would be great..
thanks in advance...kern |

When you first turn the key in the morning try just turning to on not start and listen to how long your fuel pump runs. Should only run a few seconds to pressurize the fuel rail. If it runs a long time you may not be getting enough fuel pressure, Pull the vacuum hose off the fuel regulator and turn the engine over. If there's fuel at the vacuum port then the regulator is leaking. Change it. Check for fuel leaks around the injectors and fuel rail. I experienced the occasional hard start from purchase of my 2001 that wasn't resolved until due to a misfire condition they found a couple of injectors flowing too much fuel. Since replacing the injectors it has started every time. Hope some of this helps.
