Ford trucks VS. Chevy Trucks

Though i am a firm believer that Ford really isnt all it is cracked up to be, there are, however, some good things that come out of ford trucks, as well as chevy. I just get so sick and tired of everyone saying "i dont like them because they suck" thats not a reason, at least have a friggin reason for an argument. anyway, moving on. Chevy trucks are good trucks with a great engine in the vortec, but, i have had past experience in that when towing something of large proportions the rear differential cannot be stressed for more then four hours at a time without a differential cover to cool it down, this happened on two vacations i went on with my family in two different trucks, a 2001 and a 2000. The partial reason for the problem is the differential fluid that GM is using. They went from their old stuff to a new synthetic which breaks down easier.

On to the Ford F series. I must say that the F series trucks are good looking vehicles though they really could do a little more redesigning. you just see too many of the same thing on the road. the regular gasoline engines, i really dont think are that great because, from what ive seen, working at a car dealership, there are many of those that come in with leaks and knocks and noises. But i do however really think that Ford has got a great thing with their diesels in the fact that they use an International Powerstroke, especially since international has been making diesels for quite sometime. As for safty though, im afraid that Chevy comes out on top, because from what ive seen from the crash tests preformed on the F series, the structural integrity is really having tough times standing up to high and low impact crashes.
As far as sales go, i think they are about even, people like fords because of how they were brought up or because its a decent vehicle for a good price, and people like chevy because chevy has been around for a while and makes great running vehicles, though im curious to see how things go when the new Silverado SS comes out versus the ford lightning, which im not sure if they still produce. oh well. thats my view and im stickin with it. tell me what you think.

But it's not, i completely agree with you. Both are great trucks with their own bits of character.

yeah, who is going to buy a truck because of its crash test ratings? damn i know i wouldn't unless i knew i was purposely going to wreck it. and hell its a truck it'll demolish anything it hits so i'd just be worried about the other cars.

I agree that ALL vehicles have problems.
One is just as good as the other as far as transportation goes.
However, stock for stock, the Ford stands no chance against
the Chevy in a drag race!!
I have never owned a Ford, and I am not knocking them,
because working on 'em fer a livin' puts a few coins in my pocket!

refering to the silverado ss....it really dont matter how it will compare since ford is very soon to come out with the DOHC 5.4 lightning that put will put out 500 hp

From what I have seen in my life and in Texas around farms and ranches is this. You go driving around the country side in Texas and you see about 50% Ford trucks 30% Chevy trucks and 20% Dodge trucks. And of these numbers the Fords are always the ones pulling the most trailers and the biggest trailers. Chevy's rarely have anything behind them and Dodge only trailers when there is a cummins under the hood. Chevrolet can not come out with a deisle motor, which is what in the long run makes a truck a truck, isnt it? the working ability i mean, and if u cant come out with a good dielse motor then in the world of working u are not very high up. Almost every heavy duty truck 350-3500 dualie) i see is a Ford with the 7.3 liter power stroke turbo. This is because it is a great engine, then new 6.0 power stroke is even better though, now it puts out more torque and horse power than the cummins. Chevrolet just have a 8100 vortec to make up for their lack of deisle technology, which is pretty pathetic. And I have done extensive research and the Ford F-350 duelie with a power stroke always comes out on top. best work horse, best price. And definatley, best styling.

id never buy a gas truck, nor a chevy (gm) the ford power stroke diesels are excellent, stronger chassis, gobs of torque, good fuel mileage, and still retain a better solid front axle then the IFS of the GM models.

HUH? You would be lucky to get 10 MPG from the old 7.3L powersmoke. There is a reason Cummins gets more torque from only a 5.9L, because it's BETTER!!! And they get atleast 16 MPG hauling stuff. 20 without.
I find it funny that when Chevy came out with the Duramax everyone thought it was the shit. Diesel with aluminum head? WTF. Now the competition has more HP and torque than chevy. IMO it's Dodge first, Ford second, and chevy last. Also, the new HEMI from dodge is great, loads of pulling power. Also, one other thing - the dodge HD's are without a doubt more HD than chevy and ford. My brother has an 2002 Dodge Cummins 2500 and GVWR is like 9000 pounds, single wheel not dual. I see chevy and ford HD's around here hauling stuff and their ass is always scraping on the ground, but never a Dodge!

I'm wondering why a truck comparo was started without Dodge even being mentioned? Maybe because Dodge is leaps and bounds better than both Ford and Chevy?

Both Ford and Chevy are good trucks, howver from working in the oil patch I found that the Ford powerstroke outperformed the Chev. Cold starting to rough terrain the Ford prevailed. Dodge has advanced in leaps and bounds-expecially in syling and powerplants, but again from what Ive seen they still have some quality issues to attend with. All these trucks are good choices for day to day driving. But I'll take the Ford anyday into the field.
