88 escort doesnt start when raining or cold
88 escort doesnt start whun rainy or wet or cold. Kinda' screwed since its early March. Also bucks when wet...(when it starts). Fuel is shooting through the injector. Cranks but doesnt fire. Then after trying for a few minutes just clicks and nothing. At first I thuoght moisture was causing plug wires to arc cause they were old. repaced no help. No crack in distributor cap. Please help every day I drive my Jeep v8 is anothe 20 bucks down the drain. I miss the "Squirt"....

Re: 88 escort doesnt start when raining or cold
alright this should be a simple fix. you already replaced the wires so we can rule that out. i'd go ahead and replace the cap&rotor they are cheap and wear out with time due to arcing and carbon tracking. i'm leaning towards either the coil or ignition module. so heres the trick: fill a spray bottle with water and add some salt. when the motors running spray the ignition components one at a time you'll know when you find the culprit because the car will die. good luck

Could just be a bad charge on the battery too. Low amps.
