hello,
My explorer only has 68000 miles on it and it seems to have a noise resembling a spark knock only during accelleration. The dealer tells me it's carbon build up and that I need to have the heads pulled off and cleaned. Are there any other methods or things to check before doing this extensive correction? I've tried higher octanes and it didn't respond.I've tried injector cleaner and it helped shot term but came back. thanks for any help. ntmud8r |

We have an auto repair talk radio show here in San Antonio, the host being the owner of a very popular shop.
He always talks about Ford engines "coking" up...the formation of carbon on the back side of the valves. He recommends a product called 44K, by BG Products. He also recommends adding it to the fuel every year or so. I use it on my 170K '83 F150, still no noises. It's not cheap, but it may be a good investment. I think you can buy it online at www.cambridgeauto.com |
