Angry 93 Prelude Engine Swap??

hey, im new to this forum...

i just have a couple of questions to ask concerning an engine swap..

i have a 93 SR prelude (SI in the USA)...i want to take that engine out....and put another one in...i justttt got a new tranny for that car...so i have to put in an engine that wont require me to change the TRANNY againn..cuz as i said, itz brand new....

i dont want to put in the same SI engine...since i want to see if i can put in the SRV ENGINE....cuz itz got more hp and for other reasons as in the 'vtec'....which i want to have....

are there any other engines that can 'fittt' into the 93 si prelude and that have more then 160 hp(the hp of the CURRENT SI) ....and can the 'vtec' (190hp) fit perfectly into the 93 SI BODY/?????

and what other engines would be better....or more efficient to put in there..without doing majorrrr changes to the car...??

thanx in advance!!!!!

Unhappy WHATS UP?

What do you want to do in the future?
Will you keep it standard or boost it?
If you are thinking on boost just spend some money on the original engine and put 12psi down its throat it should be good for 300hp.
if you just want a quick fix then both gen 4 and gen 5 h22a's fit straight in but bye bye to the tranny plus the ecu. By the way who wants an auto anyhow?
I just saw a h22a in a 92 integra it goes well.

all the best :flash:

thanxx

hey, thankz a lot man......seriously...

the car is stick...

and ure sure i have to change the entire tranny and ecu?

how much does that usually cost..for the ecu and tranny.....to change it...im guessing a lot

i thought i could just put the engine in, without changing the tranny or ecu, i guess i wuz wrong..
i dont want to do no supercharging..or turbo or whatever...
im gonna do minor performance upgrades.....
gonna do body and interior..and stuff like that.

the h22a is what engines exactly..what year prelude ?
i want the 93 SRV engine inside, and will if i do that, will i have to change the tranny and ecu /??

H22a

whats up?
I just did the swap from a h23a (same as yours) to the h22a (vtec) in my 93 prelude. The h22a will run you about 2700 shipped and will include a new tranny and ecu. everything you need to make the complete swap. The JDM h22a will fit any 92-96 prelude, and will produce over 200hp ( 40 more than the h23a). I am suposed to get my car back tomorrow or by monday, and will post the news.
Hope i could have been a help

I'm sorry, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the H23A the 220hp Type S engine found in 5th gen Preludes in Japan? It's ported and polished, too. That's what makes the extra power over the J-Spec H22A, which is only 200hp. Thanks. Peace

The H23A is the motor that comes in the 4th gen prelude Si and it only has 160 and is non-VTEC. The H22A VTEC is the same engine found in the type s in japan it just has differnt cams, pistons,LSD w/atts, valve springs and all the blah blah than the regular J-spec.

Thumbs up Your options

Listen I'm doing the same thing rite now as we speak. You can do what you want, I'll tell you bout what I'm doing.
JDM H22a type S engine swap, and automatic to manual conversion (I researched and its prefectly fine and easy to do this, just make sure the pedal assembly is done properly). From there the sky is the limit, and make sure not to skimp on the parts when you do it the first time its well worth the wait and the money. if you have more questions feel free to hit me up

isnt it ture that if you want to go turbo then its best to stay with the h23a based on its lower compression and no Vtec........i was just given a 92 prelude in need of a little body work and new seats.....the engine has 72,000 on it and me and my moms boyfriend are planing on turboing it adding a body kit doin other work and then selling it.......would it be better to get a H22a or stay with the h23a.......we are looking for between 300-325 hp.....that is extremly reliable and we dont want straight line car we want it to retain its handling abilities........let me know

Stay with the H23 is you want to boost. H22s are better for all motor applications due to their highest compression ratio.

im not jokin about 300hp but i never said anythin about just turbo charging it.......that is just a starting place.....of corse im doin exhast too along with other things taht we are planning now......and who said 12 psi.....sure most kits run between 8-12 psi but were goin higher then that not sure how much higher because we do know that certain things will need to be replaced in order to work right......pistons ect......we want this car to have everythin that it will need.....were not cutting corners with it........

ok ok, sounds better then. i jus thought u meant putting the turbo on at 12 psi was gonna put u up to 300hp. thats why i found it pretty tough to believe, but if ur goin about it like u say, then good luck man...keep me updated on ur project.
