Talking Street Machine 69 Charger!

Ok, in the meantime while my CLK DTM is curing up I dedcided to do a project I always wanted to do, a complete modern street machine with modern interior, wheels, suspension, but a classic vintage 60-70's look.

I picked a 1969 Charger, not just becuase it was a star of BLADE movies, but because I always loved large Detroit Muscle body

So here is the kit:

I purchased a bunch of accesories from modelcargarage and made some aluminum bits. and went to work on mocking up the chasis first and decided on wheels.. Here is the wheels I am going to use for this project:

Played around with some V12 modern engines as well.. here is a BMW V12:

But ultimately I have decided to use the vintage 440 magnum motor

Next I turned my attention to the interior and flocked the floor and package shelf with silver, grey charcoal flocking.

next installed center console and a white ball shifter with shifting pattern

now the dashboard. My signature keys in the ignition present, photoetched and billet steering wheel and home made steering wheel column.

ignore the decal on the steering wheel, it will be changed. just temporary measurement for size

photoetch pedals:

modern race buckets with seatbelt harness. Can someone guess where they are from???

Engine started out as this:

turned into this:

and finaly into this:

with all the metal in the enigne it feels pretty heavy. still need to do the belt and then we are done

so what do you think of this project?

Cool project! This reminds me of the Charger in HOT ROD magazine, it was silver with fat Kinesis wheels and a Viper V-10.

SO what color will yours be? I'm not feeling those chrome wheels, they look like they belong on a ghetto Benz!
Nice engine detail!! I really like the keys in the dash, that's incredible. That console looks good too. Really impressed by the engine

Awesome work, dude, I had a similar Idea a few weeks ago but it looks like you beat me to it. Incredible detail! every inch of it is real to life. I agree to swap the wheels for, maybe something with an open mesh pattern? if you wanted to really emphasize the modernized muscle, you could put 8 throttle bodies on the 440 engine.

Re: Street Machine 69 Charger!

Nice stuff, a Viper engine would have been cool also. But that 440 is screamin' , nice attention to detail.
But those wheels ummmmmmmm just not feeling those man. Maybe some 20" 5 spokes or something like that, something that says " Muscle car" not " Moms Benz" but thats just my 2 cents. Great work in any case

Re: Re: Street Machine 69 Charger!

SLK. the engine, great job, i love it. Looks real, but the rims, I dunno... a little too big if you ask me, but that's my opinion.
