Talking Big Retarded Idiots

Me and some buddies of mine run a "car modification company" where we waste cash from our dayjobs making regular cars really strange. Anyway, as you can guess, we have MUCH more money than brains, and for our next project, we're going to take a 99 Toyota Corolla my friend has and try to make it an 8sec car without nos, weight reduction, or suspension changes. We talked it over, and we figured the best way to do this would be to get a Lexus SC 430 engine (my friend can get us one for $500), and put 1 or 2 or 4 turbos on it . This sounds nice enough in theory, but I have a funny feeling that this is a REALLY STUPID IDEA. I was wondering if any of you proud owners out there have put freakishly huge engines in this tiny car and if theres any advice you can give us? Any help is greatly appreciated, we don't know hardly anything about major engine swaps and we don't want to trust some mechanics advice, cus all the mechanics we've talked to have just said NO!

Re: Big Retarded Idiots

Make sure you put real tires on it.. lol.. Other than that you might want to upgrade the brakes.. Um.. You're gonna lose a lot of time with the suspension.. harder suspension would be in your benefit. I think your best bet would be to twin-charge it with tons of boost. But something tells me you guys won't be able to figure a twin-charge system out for a long time lol.

Re: Re: Big Retarded Idiots

DMC, your full of shit, nonchalant, dumbass, the lexus 430 is RWD, and corolla is FWD. It'd never fit, your talking about doing a full chrome-moly turbular frame, custom suspension, a quad turbo v8? You must be 9years old.

lmao wow I must have caught you on your period. So, mr. automotive genius, enlighten us on why a quad turbo V8 would be impossible to do (which, by the way, we decided not to implement for this project which we've already started, nor we were ever SERIOUSLY considering it). And while you're at it, explain to me who exactly you "intimidate" in 86 corolla? To make your car a sleeper, you're supposed to make it look stock and go fast, what you're doing is just retarded

Re: Re: Re: Re: Big Retarded Idiots

Ok, let me clear this up. A: The muffler is an 'Intimidator', it doesn't intimidate anyone but the 4 civics, and 1 one almost gsr integra.

B: Yes, a 4turbo v8 is possible. But not on a 4.3 L block. It would have to be at least close to 6.5, or those turbos would have to be the size of a balled up childs fist. Then, your talking about putitng it in a corolla, with a little bitty engine bay, and running 8second quater mile times, while keeping it FWD, without weight reduction (which means no cage, which means illegal run) without nitrous. Now, you tell me, even if you don't transversely mount the v8, who's going to build a fwd transmission to hold the torque that the 4.3 alone(stock) puts out, yes there are CV shafts that can hold up to 2k hp, but what about the transmission.

Basically to make this work, you would have to do this: Remove everything from the car, completely gut it. Have a full 14-16 point chrome-moly suspension with rollcage welded together to fit the corollas' body.(BTW, where do you get a 5k USED 4.3 v8, for 500usd BRAND NEW?!) Find a transmission, driveshaft, and rear end to hold the torque a 4turbo v8 puts out, and then have some serious geniuses at work for a suspension setup for the car. Then when your done sorting all that out, comes the interior. Set the dash back 3-4 feet, because, stock body corolla, in the front, is short, so the motor will have to sit back in the frame alot. Sort out all your boost, rpm, oil pressure, tranny pressure, water temp, fuel and what not gauges, wire that up. Then, find some 8piston F1 car brakes (cause your gona need them) hook those up, tub the ass of the car out, stick some 25'' wide slicks back there, some aluminum rims, wire up all your fuel injection lines, computer pieces, ignition, and everything else you need to actually drive it out the garage and on the trailer.

Basically, you'd benefit more by purchasing an already 12 second car (corvette, svt stang) something rwd, with a solid rear end, supercharging it, running your exhaust, slicks, weight reduction, 12pt cage, and puff, 75k later, your a tenth of a second from an 8second quater mile, of course you'd have to do more than open exhaust and supercharger to be that fast.

However, I'd like to apologize for my previous post, I should've said all this to begin with, it's basically something only some one like Bill Gates would do, seeing as he's the richest person in the world, maybe send him an e-mail, he could slip you a few 100k maybe.

Re: Big Retarded Idiots

lmao you're right, getting a fast car and amking it faster would make A LOT more sense, but that's not the point with this project. We are currently working on it using a inline 6 from a supra, but have just start doing exactly what you said, gutting the whole car and working on the frame. None of us are Bill gates, but we hope the 125K budget we have should be more than enough to get this done.

Re: Re: Big Retarded Idiots

I understand what your saying, as I too am doing the same with my corolla. but, I'm using the stock 1.6 ohc carbed 4cyl. I know an asian dude that has an 88 or so turbo completely rebuilt 6spd supra v6 he wants to sell me for 4500, I've considered it, but I'd need a rear end to hold the power that motor puts out. He claims @6psi, should push 400hp to the rear wheels.

Re: Big Retarded Idiots

why would you waste that kind of money? here I barely paying for college and keeping my cars going and your talking 100k + on a lost cause. if you want a wierd combo just get a suzuki swift throw a 4agze in it build up the bottom end and twin charge it. around 500 hp tuned properly and a low 2k pound curb weight = very very fast. or get a vw beetle and put a v8 in the back of it (it has been done) although you will have no room behind your seat and will be very hot and noisy it leaves you with plenty of room for modifications.or better yet take a sa22 rx7 and dump a 3 rotor cosmo motor in it and put a turbo big enough to suck in small children would give instant low 11 sec 1/4 times and that is a hell of a better starting point than a probably not possible v8 fwd 2001 corolla And if I didn't love the Rotary motor and RX series by mazda I'd go mullet stlye and put in a super charged big block v8. my 2 cents

Re: Re: Big Retarded Idiots

Mullet Style? Buddy, there are more people running small block and big block v8's in older RX7's than the rotaries. N/A 400-600 engines, and ya, come back at me with the weight issue. But if the car is made to go in a straight line it wont make as big a difference.

Re: Big Retarded Idiots

I know there are quite a few of them out there (v8 powered rx-7's) I know a few guys that do it as a hobby. But It makes me sad to see mint 1991 Turbo II rx7's with chevy motors, but if you want striaght line speed it your right it is ALOT cheaper. I personally wouldn't do it though I love the way rotaries scream! almost makes me want to sell/trade my GTS for one, hell nah Toyota all the way haha
back to the topic, if you have that kind of money and lets say you get all of the parts 2gether, who you going to get to fabracate and put hundreds of hours of labor for free? not to mention it would envolve making a completley new suspinsion design to handle the completley different layout and wieght ratio, that would take lots of trial and error and time then you get past this, you must tune and tune your motor nobody throws together a motor and instantly runs 8's even so you would break parts over and over agian getting it rite. I say stop while your ahead. Or just buy a used top fuel dragster it would probably be cheaper than what you are talking about doing.

yeah that starlet must haul some serious ass, I'd like to check that out. I know of a few cars like that. HKS has a tubbed out supra that runs a motor based on the same one found in the lexus v8 cars not shure on its specs realy. There is a guy on club 4ag who has put a jza80 supra motor into his ae86 while still retaining stock aperence. the only problem I have with this guy wanting to turn a 99 corolla into a 8 sec car while retaining interior and I'm guessing stock aperence he sayed " make it an 8sec car without nos, weight reduction, or suspension changes." so what ever.

Re: Big Retarded Idiots

I think it's the 4.7L Tundra motor, not the 4.3L found in the lexus. Though they are same block, the bore and stroke is larger, I do believe it's an I-force v8.
