G-20 will not come out of park when started??

In order to go anywhere I have to turn the key half way, put it in neutral and then start it. I was told there is a fuse or module in the steering column that needs to be replaced. Can someone verify this or give me some possible options???
Thanks.....

Might be the brake transmission shift interlock thing. One the newer cars you have to have your foot on the brake pedal to shift out of park when running, if it wont do that try checking the interlock out.

Eh Sounds stupid but check the Rear Brake light Bulb... I had a 97 Ford Exploder that had same problem replaced a Brake light Driver side rear and BOOM fixed problem... also check the Brake light switch located on the upper portion of the brake pedal... good luck
