to do or not to do.....

Well, I am a newbe to this posting so bear with the ignorance. I want to start some work on my 69 skylark. It is bone stock, save for dual exhaust, and .30 over on rebuild. Now where should i start next... We are talking 350 2bbl, I have a couple of Carters lying around and a huge rochester quad. I would like to slap an intake (tower?), headers, rear-end, the usual stuff. Now I havent seen any gs conversions on the posting (as i am a newbie) so have any of you done a GS conversion on a 69? And how would the buick community accept it? This is not something that will happen over-night, it is a budget permitting thingy. I mean how many people have a 455 lying around.
Well that all being said, what would you do to a stock 350, just barely broken in?
TIA

One question is 'what is your goal?'
As its a convertable, (I assume) its quite valuable as is.
Likely any serious mods are only going to detract from its value.
If you want a real fire breathing performance car, sell it for big $$$ and start with something more appropriate, a Camaro or GTO etc.

However, if you just want to tweak it a little with some bolt ons, I would suggest headers and a 4bbl with a dual plane intake would be fine. A 'tower' intake, (do you mean a high rise tunnel ram?) would not work well unless combined with a radical cam and headwork. Then you would end up with bottom end power as soggy as day old bran flakes. It would be no fun to drive around town.
You can make a knock off GS, as many of the necessary parts are available. It would be unethical to sell it for more $$ by representing it as a true GS, but the better handling suspension would be more fun and the GS badges would look pretty good.
