Z28 Engine

Does anyone know where I could buy a Z28 engine for my 2002 camaro? It's only a V6 now but I've discovered that I want some more power under the hood. Does anyone know where I could Find one and at what price?

I think you need to specify what kind of engine you want, and there is a pretty fair price difference between an LS1 and an LT1. Also, do you need a transmission? If you have a 5spd I'm certain you do, heard they dont match up tp v8s. Try Ebay!

your best bet is to sell ur car and pay the extra and buy a z28. Your looking at between 5 and 7 grand for a crate ls1, depending on what you get with it. You are going to need a six speed or auto tranny, Thats another 2 grand. You could get them used from wrecked cars or a part car from Ebay for less or what not. Installation will be all but impossible except for a experienced mechanic. Theres more money. Just sell or trade in ur camaro and get the z28, no more expensive and alot less hassle. Besides the engine is not the only diff. the z28 has different suspension and so on. And thoes numbers are off the top of my head.

Re: Z28 Engine

the general consensus on this forum is that if you want to change from a V-6 to an LT1 or an LS1 is to just sell the car and go buy one with what you want. for the most part, this is pretty much a good way to do it. the amount of money your going to spend on the conversion can easily be used to buy a z28 or ss and still have some money left over for mods. normally i would say that if you have the money go to a junk yard and try to price out how much it would be to get all the parts, but cause you got an 02 it might be harder to find one in a yard. id go with the sell and buy suggestion...
