Need some help!

I am a newbie here and just started to 'try' and design a car. I want to know if you guys can help me out with the outlined drawing of my car. I made this car up (off my head) and would like tips on how i could shade and improve it. It will also be helpful if someone can take this image and do abit themselves just to give me an idea.

Thanks in advance!

Try adding some more details. You should try looking at actual car pics for refrence. It is in need of doors, handles, side skirts, fenders, mirrors, exhaust, etc. It's a pretty good start though. It looks like an Opel Speedster/ Corvette/ Acura NSX combo. I like it.

Re: Need some help!

Thanks for your reply Mshkttck. Does anyone have a link to a page which shows you how to draw the rims, also what type of rims do you think will suite it the best. As i try and finish it can someone take this image and do abit themselves so i can compare it with mine.

Thanks!

If there is anything else you need, feel free to ask. I'd be more than happy to help.

Re: Need some help!

i think, as mshkttck said, just look at other car pictures and see what you like about them. incorporate what you like about other cars into yours. about the wheels, look at real rims and decide which ones you like and would look good on your drawing

Man I think that is off to a great start as far as the design.

It still looks like a cartoon though. I would just increase the wheelbase to 2-2.5 wheels widths.

Here is another link on drawing wheels.

Great job so far.

As far as shading and rendering there are some helpfull links at the top of the forum.

Basically what I would do is find a good magazine w/ nice images like MotorTrend or Road & Track and look at a car w/ nice reflections (study it) and then reproduce what you see using a pencil.

You can also go to their websites (car mags) for free images.

Here is a shading tutorial, even though it is for portraits it applies to cars. Look at all the links. Notice Capt. Picard's shiny forehead, the same techs. and styles apply to autos. Mike Sibley's link is a great place too.

http://homepages.tesco.net/~p.wilkinson/index.html

I hope that helps get you started.
Welcome to the forume.
