Zmax seems to boost mileage 20%
I am kinda obsessive about trying to increase gas mileage on my 98 Sily 1500 with 5.7L. I normally check the gas mileage with every tank by re-setting the trip meter and then calculating mileage upon refilling tank.
I have tried many things to boost mileage but nothing has helped much. Even with a good tune-up, new wires, plugs, proper air in tires, etc; I was only getting right about 15 mpg on highway. I am a totally skeptical buyer, but I decided to try Zmax. I have already tried other so-called friction reducers with no luck, so I did not expect anything to happen with the Zmax. However, the Zmax offers a money back guarantee if your mileage does not increase, so that's what put me over the edge. Anyway, I changed the engine oil and added the Zmax treatment. I was completely shocked to see my highway mileage go to over 18 mpg, representing a 20% boost in mileage. I have now run about 4 tanks of highway gas just to confirm this. So far, this is the ONLY thing that has given me a substantial mileage boost. Has anyone else tried Zmax??

Re: Zmax seems to boost mileage 20%
well, before i dismantled my 73 c-10 to restore it, i tried using straight up regular acetone in my gas. it was something like 3 to 4 ounces per 10 gallons of gas or something like that. it seemed to get maybe one or two more miles to a gallon in the city. it went up from about 10 to about 12 mpg with a 350 and a holley 600cfm four barrel. i bet if i kept using it maybe it would have eaten away the rubber seals inside the carb, but it was pretty diluted so i dunno... i heard it disolves stuff called neoprone or something like that which is used a lot for stuff like accelerator pumps and o rings and such. as far as i know though, after about 2 months, it was still running at least lol. if you have a piece of crap, try it out, but dont risk it on a nicer car like anything less than 20 years old lmao

Re: Zmax seems to boost mileage 20%
I read some where that using Z-Max increases engine corrosion; I would be weary about using it. Also, your the first person I have seen that had anything good to say about Z-Max.
