Bumper Scratches

I have a 02 black accord and i got this minor scratch on my front bumper. I was wondering if there's any way to get rid of it. I already got the matching paint. What's the best way to get rid of the scratch?

thnx

Re: Bumper Scratches

how deep are the scratches? do you have the spray paint or brush touch-up paint? if you have the spray paint and the scratches aren't deep then you should just spray a few light layers over it. let it dry before each layer. if you have the touch-up paint than you need to be very careful not to apply too much at a time

The scratches should buff out as long as they are not through the paint. If they are, touch-up is probably the cheapest and easiest way to go. If its not through the paint, have it buffed, or have them cut the paint back and it will come out. Any detailing shop or even a body shop can do this for you. At worst you could have them try wet-sanding it. Good Luck!

Yea, if they won't buff out, try wet-sanding. I can't tell you weahter or not they are too deep for this, as I am not there...but wet-sanding will remove scratchs you probably wouldn't think it could. My boss and I had to wet-sand out 4 strachtes yesterday on the side of a GMC Yukon XL we were detaling yesterday. They all came out fine. I would contact a detailer in the area (worst case a reputable body shop) and get their opinion on whether they can wet-sand it or buff it out. I'd look into that and make sure before I used touch up paint.

Wet Sanding is exactly as it sounds. You take 1200 or 1500 grit sand paper (designed for use on automoblies), you wet the car or the paper, and you sand the spot. When you are done, you buff it out with compound and polishwax the area. If you are not a detailer, don't do this yourself, you will probably do more harm than good it you have no detailing exprience. Leave it to a good body shop or professional detailer if you want to try it, Wet-Sanding can work wonders.
