*Skreeech!* Distortion coming from my right speaker

hello, I have a 1991 Mazda B2200 Pickup with speakers built into the dash, and my right speaker is distorted when playing music. I switched the left speaker with the right one, to see if it was a problem with the speaker; but, Same problem. Does this mean it's a problem with the speaker wire? And is it easy enough for me to replace speaker wire, or should I just take it in to BestBuy Audio Mechanics? Thx

Thanks for the replies all. After fiddling around with my new speakers long enough, I'm now able to get clearer sound through my speakers.
