Unhappy OEM jetta cd changer

I have a 2002 vw jetta and just bought a factory cd changer off of Ebay. Does anyone have a manual or step by step install instructions? I thought it was just plug and play but the plugs don't match up. I don't want to force it for fear of breaking it! I really need some visual help! Thanks so much!

lol ... I had the same thing in my 01 Jetta. there is actually a dummy plug stuck on the plug in the car ... take that one off and you should be good to go.

Don't worry ... I felt stupid when someone told me ... and that person felt stupid when someone told them ... I think it is some right of passage ...

Re: OEM jetta cd changer

I've heard you have to have the radio reprogrammed with a scanner to let it know the CD changer is there. Did you have this happen on the '02, or did it work when plugged in? I'm not sure of which year this started in.

Yes they need to be reprogrammed .. i used to work on these .. the dealer can do it easily.. You would not believe how many warranty repairs we had returned for INOP CD MECH when cd Mech wasnt ever activated... "Yeah good ol' electronics will get ya everytime"
