Okay today i was driving my sister's BMW (3-series coupe). And i noticed one thing. Her car is already DROPED and it rides damn good (way better then our G20s, although it's kinda unfare to compare the two). But the point being what kind of suspension (ie Shocks, Springs) do they use that there ride is soo good even when its droped??

I think BMWs just don't ahve a gap between the tire and the fender. Doesn't mean it's dropped though. They do have nice suspensions though. Quite expensive I'm sure too.

Yes you're right. What i did mean was that it looks dropped already but rides better then our stocks. Anyone know what kind of shocks/springs they use or is the design of there suspension totally different then ours, which i suppose it probably is.

It's totally different and engineered that way. I still don't know why more manufaturers design their cars to take out some for the fender gap.
Not all BMW's look lowered. The new AWD cars have 1/2" higher ride height. It's all how the suspenion was designed. The M3 stance is the nicest in my opinion. I always feel a stab of pain in my heart when I see a 'lowered' M3. |

The reason it "looks" lowered is because the BMW's have fenders which flare out more and come down lower. The result is that the car can have a lower stock suspension, but still have plenty of room under the fender to swallow up bumps with out the wheel rubbing on anything.
The fenders stick out more and cover more of the wheel basically. |

anyone try those orleans (sp?) coilovers that these p11 guys use in Japan? those are similar looking to the JIC' (or the typeHA's) and hear that they have much better damping capacity than the NA's. the NA's ride too low for their capacity, basically...need to raise it about 20mm

Ohlins
![]() I've seen them on a few sites as well. The JIC's look like they are constructed better though. But performance wise who knows. |

curious: all you people in US and Canada; try hitting Alt + 148 or Alt + 153 (press and hold Alt, then type 1 4 8 or 1 5 3, release Alt...) do you get the or ヨ then?

It may work on a Windows machine if thats the correct ASCII code for it.
...but that would assume you use a Windows operating system. It doesnt work on a Mac (which I'm on now) and I'm not sure (too lazy to check) if it'll work on my Linux or BSD machines. Out of 5 computers I have at home only one runs Windows (laptop), yet I'm an Win2k Web Admin by profession |
