Hot rod years

How old does your car have to be before it can become a legal hot rod?
just wondering because i saw like a late 70-something chevy truck with hot rod plates.

By hot rod plates, do you mean historic vehicle plates?

Here, (Ontario) its 25 years or more.
However, once a vehicle is 20 years old or more, its exempt from emissions testing so full - hot rodding can commence.
Just have a quiet exhaust so the cops don't have reason to pull you over to look at the dual quads and no catalytic converters on your '78 Chevy.

Re: Hot rod years

I think in the states a vehicle is considered a classic at 20 years. An '84 a classic? *shudder*
