purple beans huh?

Well no HID actualy has purple beams. I think maby you should just look at getting a set of bulbes unless you want to spend $2000+

Re: H.I.D headlights

Actually I bought a set of the blue ones and they lasted a whopping 3-5 hours of light time. I now went with the Sylvania's, we'll see how long they last.

Re: Re: H.I.D headlights

i think i saw purple ones at Circut City of all places... i got PIAA Spark Blue 7500k 65w and the light is very diminished compared to the 5000k 80w bulbs i used to have. i think you want HID simulated bulbs. do a search on it in this forum and there is a link in a post that is most helpful in dispelling any Q's you may have.

Yeah word. I'm using 5000k 55/65w blubs and they don't seem too awfully powerful.

Would you say getting a higher wattage blubs like 80 or even 100 would be dangerous on one hand? I know your having some kind of problem with your tai light fuses, so I thought I'd ask. (good luck with that btw)

Re: H.I.D headlights

I spend a lot of effort on my HID write-up, so if you don't do a search and read it, i'll be sad.

Bottom line: Ebay lights are shitty, HID kits are shitty, and 'purple beams' means you don't give a rats ass about proper lighting, and you want to be a ricer. Have fun with your crappy bulbs producing more glare than lumens and burn out in a week.

LMFAO!!! Joe, you give me at least one good laugh in a day... this is the link to the HID thread. and i know that my "crappy bulbs producing more glare than lumens [which is unfortunatly true, and i have had 3 cops tell me 'the only cars allowed to have blue lights are cop cars'] bulbs will last more than a week, at least they are PIAA, although they might get me a ticket.

and yes, the 80w's were much brighter. i was told not to go any higher than that, unless risk melting the housing issues.

as far as myy fuse problem, @#$%^&*(*&^%$#@()^&^%#^#%!@%#@*^%()&*^%!!!!!!!!!!! ! is how i feel about that right about now, and i've had the 80w's out for like 2 months now, so there is another dead end about that [i am checking every wire possible]. i know it will be a wire burried far far away with a little tiny chafe on it...(&^$*^#&^@&$(*&%)*&%!!!!!!

Re: H.I.D headlights

Yeah I should have given a link to my thread, didn't think about it

So are you saying stick to under 80 watts so you don't short wires?

Re: Re: H.I.D headlights

i found my short problen, the wire from the turn signal got caught in the hole where the UICP goes thru and the UICP almost cut it in half and it was shorting. some electrical tape and a splice fixed it right up.

as for the lights, i was told 100w would cause excess heat that would possibly melt the housing area around the bulb, causing you to have to get a new housing, and it may even cause a fire.

Re: H.I.D headlights

i've seen 80w bulbs melt the wiring harnesses.
i've also seen them melt the housing like boosted said. the area around the prongs melts. it looks pretty nasty. i had a friend whose honda this happened to. every once in a while, one light would go out. if you hit the headlight, it would turn back on. eventually it just melted completely, and we had to rewire it.

personally, i'd like to retrofit a hid kit from a beamer, but i can't barely even afford silverstars right now. plus, i'm not sure how i would fit the projectors in to the housing...
