Re: 92 talon vs 96 probe gt

I personally would rather go with the Talon because I hate Ford...and Probes (just listen to the name...probe. ew.) haha. Anyway, the only advantage is that it is a lot newer. As well, I find it very easy to find performace parts for my talon, so I dunno. The good thing is that you also have the Laser and Eclipse to look for when you need parts. Anyway, in my opinion TALON!
Hope it works out!
Alex

Re: 92 talon vs 96 probe gt

there might be the the eclipse and laser to find parts for the talon but the probe is all mazda under the hood u can find parts for the probe in the mx6,626 and mx3 gts there are also more spec moters for the probe (that ive found so far) so far im haveing more luck finding performance parts for the probe than the talon if any 1 can tell me any web pages that have performance parts for the talon that would be great im trying to see which car has a better chance of doing a 8.5 second 1/4 mile

first off, i wanna say ur out of ur miind thinking you are going to run an 8.5 1/4 mile in a talon, john shepard and david buscher (two of the worlds best dsm tuners) have not even run that. shepard has run an 8.9, and thats pretty freakin amazing. someone that can't even find simple parts for a talon will NEVER touch shepard. check www.machv.com (one of the dsm world's top vendors). also look into www.dsmtrader.com, people WORLDWIDE sell, trade and buy parts on here. a few other places to check are www.magnusmotorsports.com, www.buscherracing.com, and www.taboospeedshop.com.

I had a event today that made me thinkg of this post lol.
I was doing my usual 75-80 on the highway and passed a van on the right, when I lookin my rear view I noticed a Red Probe GT coming up on my ass FAST.So whats a sensible DSMer to do? I took off like a bat outta hell lol I dropped down into 4th and took off, he managed to get on my ass, but as soon as I shifted into 5th I started pulling away, We topped out at about 115 MPH, Much fun. My Talon is not even in that great of shape, its 2.0 non-turbo manual.I think his car was all stock too like mine. anyways just thought I would share that..just to help with the decision.

ummm...we're talking about normal people here. not someone who spends years in a dsm shop tuning, dynoing, racing, and building 24 hours a day and doing all the research in the world to build a total monster out of a DSM. i'm positive the thread starter is not about to take that up as a hobby. no talon is going to run an 8.5 without a SERIOUS amount of work and ALOT of time and very very hard work put into the car. Not only that, but the driver counts as well, not anyone can just step in a powerful car and put down amazing numbers. i've seen people dump alot of money into mods and have only run a second or so lower than stock. 8.5 is not a reasonable goal, sorry, especially with a non-turbo car.

Re: 92 talon vs 96 probe gt

Maybe the guy with the Probe GT just couldn't drive lol, it was fun seeing him in my rear view though

Of course I might be wrong about the GT part...Didn't get a real good look, oh well
