Exclamation Identification Help Please

Okay hears the deal. About 3-4 months ago I acquired A used 1989 Honda Prelude. My Grandfather bought this Honda brand new in 89. This car was a show car that the dealership used to show the car and some test drives. ( Supposedly the manufactures (This case Honda) creates Special Edition car to give to the car dealership as show cars) If you ever buy a new car wait till you can buy the show car you get a body kit and the car is much much cheaper, My Grandfather recently bought a Hyundai Tiburon using the same method and saved a lot of money and got body kit( no Honda L but still nice car)

Anyways he claims that the Honda he gave me is some sort of Special Edition. The only words on the back of the car is Honda. No S Si nothing at all ? I have looked and there is nothing indicating that there were any letters there at all so I don‘t thing they could have fallen off. The car came with a standard White body kit,4 wheel steering, power everything (No abs to my knowledge have locked the brakes a few times ,sun roof, Fuel Injection and 5 speed. Everything is stock….so far.I Also think my grandfather is right because he ALWAYS get tons and tons of details before he buys anything.

I would appreciate if someone could tell me were to find the engine model number. I have not looked to hard yet, but a hint would make it much easier. The big one is what version is this car ??? S Si Special Edition.

If you guys need any more info please let me know. Also I need to get a Bearing set and cam set Any recommended sites ? (guess you need engine model number)

Thanks

Go to carfax, type in the VIN, and it should say.

All Preludes are made in Japan. Maybe they're assembled over here, I dunno, but I'm pretty sure the engine blocks are made there.

As for which engine block you have, well; I'll admit, I have no idea. You don't have the type S, I think, so it's either Si/Se. Those are different by a few horses.

Check some pictures on Cardomain.com and look up some cars from your 3rd generation. See if any of their engines look the same as yours, and find ones that are different.

What does your title say?
