My Boxster S

Hey guys, I'm new to this forums, so I though I'd share some info about my Boxster S.

It's a 2001 model, and it had 10,360 on the odometer and I (actually my dad) payed $37,000 for it.

Options:
Silver exterior, Black top, Black Leather interior
6-Speed manual
SportDesign Package
Sport Seats
Windstop
HIFI sound upgrade
17" Boxster wheels with Michelin Pilot tires
Hardtop
Cruise Control

The first owner used it the most. The second owner had it for 2 years, but only drove it about 750 miles, so it sat around in his garage most of the time.

My only complaint, so far, is it took a while to learn how to shift gears smoothly. Other than that, It's an excellent car.

I think the car would have been the one complaining about that

I dont know how US prices go, but here Boxster S's take a while to dip below the £30k ($55k) level so i'd say you got a good deal.

hey everyone, I'm new on this forum....
I'm thinking of buying a '04 boxster S and I've seen few critics about its power or lack there of and interior features...any 'S' ownwers or ppl who know more than me about it that can give me their inputs?
I'm also considering the audi S4 and the M3, I know these cars are not in the exact same category, but they're both fast, fun to drive (I'm assuming) and real lookers.

One thing to consider is that the Boxster is being replaced soon, the M3 is also in the later stages of its life with the new 3-series coming in next year. The S4 is the most recently introduced of the 3 cars you mention, but is the least sporty in terms of driving experience. It's very fast but feels a bit 'cold' and isnt as involving as an M3 or Boxster. The Boxster S isnt as quick (straight line) as an M3), but handles better; both are easy to live with though brakes can sometimes be troublesome on the Boxster. Personally, i'd wait until the new model comes out. The interior will have been smartened up and you'll be buying a new model.

Carrs went into great detail as to why it happens but, given that I've got slightly less interest in the oily bits than, say, John Prescott's love life, I stopped listening once I'd heard the phrase: 'It's nothing to worry about sir.'

So in the main, the S remains sublime but can, just occasionally, behave like a real old nail, which jars somewhat with the overall owning experience.

My friend's Boxster doesnt exhibit any of these faults but i guess they must apply to some Boxsters

My neighbors boxster had the same problem. We changed out the pads to a different brand and it's stopped. I forget the brand, but I remember the old pads created a lot of brake dust and the new ones don't

Well it's stopped seizing to the rotor.

i drove the s4 and the boxster s. both are fun. the new s4's have a 4.2 v8 compared to the earlier week 2.7 biturbo's , so they get up and go but its not too fun around corners. the boxster s have great power compared to the regular boxster and they handle like a dream. i would go with the boxster s with a 6 speed manual. very fun to drive.

So then would probably be a great time for me to get a Boxster S because the new models would cause the older ones' prices to drop right?

Thanks! I'm sure that enjoying will not be a problem. Luck on the other hand may be a different story. I'll keep doing research on how/where to acquire a good deal on a Boxster/Boxster S.
