Neon lights on my talon

I got a 95 eagle talon, looking to put some neon lights under it. I live in NC so was just wondering what the laws are on the lights if its legal or not etc. Also my eagles a light red, anyone got some suggestions on what color light would look good, I'm thinking red neon at the moment but not 100% sure.

Any neon colors are illegal to have on while driving on the street. You can have them on all you want as long as you're parked though, any color too. I think red would be cool, possibly green....

Actually kicker, in the state which I live in, I was told by a police officer that only red and blue lights are illegal (blue lights have an exception in certain areas of the car). I have green neons..no problems.

Blue and red are emergency colors, thats why they are illegal. Here the cops are assholes and make you take them off usually anyway. (minnesota) But with a red car I would put red or white under it. Anything else looks really gay...unless you have accents to back that color up.If you have white rims with white stripes or something like that go with white for sure, that would look badass.
