Exclamation TDI Stalling/ODB Bypass

I have a 2001 Jetta TDI with 85000 miles on it. Yesterday I was driving down the interstate at about 80 MPH and it started to lose power and stalled. After about 30 seconds I got it to start again and drove for about 3 miles and the same thing happened. I limped it back to town, stalling every 3 miles or so and restarting after a couple of seconds.

It was -10 outside so i thought maybe it was gelling up, so I stopped at a gas station and bought some anti-gel, but it did not help, as a matter of fact the check engine light came on right afterward.

If i kept the car about 2000 RPM's it it took a lot longer to stall. It seemed to be truly affected when I gave it a lot of gas or if it was underpowered (in too high of a gear.)

I had it in my garage (heated) overnight and put a new fuel filter in it and started it up. I have not drove it, as the check engine light is still on.

my question is two part:

1.) I have an aftermarket radio installed by the previous owner. The connector is not there (they cut it off and spliced the wires. Therefore I can not hook up my scan tool. Does anyone know a bypass fot the ODB through the radio?

2.) any suggestions on what the stalling could be?

Thanks.

Anyway, I have a trouble code P1248, which is fuel injection control malfunction"

Any Ideas?

I have a 1999 Jetta TDI that has identical symptoms. My initial thought was to replace the fuel filter. Did replacing the fuel filter solve your problem?

Thumbs up Replaced Fuel Filter/Anti Gel

Well,

I replaced the fuel filter and added 911 anti-gel per the bottle reccomendations. Have been driving in -20 conditions and the problem has not returned.

Re: TDI Stalling/ODB Bypass

Code 1248 can indicate that the car ran out of fuel. Very possible fuel gelling of clogged filter. Have you checked for water (ice) in the fuel?
