Unhappy What Happened???

Okay, before I reveal the truth, I'd like everyone to take a little vote on what actually happened to my poor baby.

Granted, the physical damage is negligible, but I am still shaking 5 hours after it happened!

Well, good luck guessing!

Well if it was a Deer, I know how you feel. I almost hit a moose one night last summer driving up to a camp site. Managed to get around it but the guy behind me wasn't so lucky.

You tried to pull the maneuver in Fast & Furious where the Civic passes under the semi-trailer and forgot your antenna was taller than your roof line. Oh, and found that the majority of semi's on the road are a hell of a lot lower than the ones in the movie. Hmm?

Wow, I think I'll wait to tell the real story! I like your stories better! :flash:

Well, my next question is: Can I fix it so that the power part works again? Is there a part number or something??? I so wasn't expecting to have to make this repair...

Okay, keep posting your stories... They have brought a smile to my face!

You were pretending you were Michele Mouton (thought you look more like Fabrizia Pons) and whacked a snowbank doing a handbrake turn around a hairpin.

What do I win?

Frozen Antenna?

If the antenna get frozen in the upright position and tries to retrack it usually folds over like that.

You used the antenna as a flag pole after a really fun party .. ( you fill in what article of clothing the flag was made of ) and it froze and broke off, bending your antenna like that .... lol

My answer is "all of the above"! At about 120 mph, if that was what you were going at, the aerodynamic drag caused by the vortices generated by the car roof on the antenna pushed it rearward but not enough drag to create a bending moment to snap it. At that speed on a country road, the poor animal by the road experienced a pressure difference between its stationary body and the moving car, a pressure difference so great that it sucked the poor animal into the turbulent flow and landed it on the already bended antenna making it to snap. Upon realization, the astonished driver stopped the car and went to the antenna to examine the damage. Little that she knew, she attempted to bend back the broken antenna in hope that it would stand upright, she added further stress onto the antenna making it permenantly deformed...ahem, snapped! Hence, the damage is created by "all of the above" conditions.:smoker2:

I am such a geek, ain't I? That's my 4 years of undergrad aerospace engineering degree....

The truth is, this is my 100th post, thought I would make it silly

Don't park too close to vans!!!

You have contracted a newly mutated strain of the dreaded Van-Aerial disesase which has jumped species to sedans. This dreaded disease causes erection problems leading to automotive impotence.

IIRC there is a cure, the mast can be surgically removed (antennasectomy) and a replacement mast grafted into the erectile apparatus (antenna motor). Your poor G will then be able to get it up like it used to. :alien2:

There is a post or two covering this procedure in the G20 forum, probably under audio. Otherwise, you have an FSM don't you? Is it covered in there?
