Re: New tires

why go large? its going to be heavy and hurt your take off...and the rides going to be bumpy. the largest id probably go with is 15"s or 16"s. its all up to your preference though. go to the link i posted earlier...they have recommended sizes for different cars.

THanks. Does anyone know if the Kumho 712's are pretty good tires?

I got the same set of yokohama tires 510 prelude has in a 205/40/17. They have worked great for me. I put 205 /40/17 Nangkings on my other car and they handle and withstand my punishment just as well as my yoko's. Happy holidays

Hey thanks guys, I was already seriously considering those so you guys pretty much made my decision. Since they're going on my stock rims should I just get 205/50/16? Respond please. Thank you.

Re: New tires

as for the getting a bigger tire on the stock wheel question... on tirerack.com they have specs on most all of their tires, what you can do is find out the specs of the tire size that comes stock on the car (mainly the rotations per mile) then go find the tire that is the widest you can fit on your rim and keeps you as close to the same rotations per mile as possible when compared to the stock tire

edit: stock tire size for a '95 vtec lude is 205 55 15... the biggest tire I would probably put on it would be 225 50 15

Re: New tires

hey, i work at Discount Tire so i get to talk to a lot of people about how they liked their tires, some advice for you guys...Dont buy Kumho 711's, 712's, or nitto's (unless there the 555's or the neogens) ive personally had both and the 711's are awful, the 712's are just ok, you can do better though. of course, yokohama paradas are always good, very short tread life though, the yokohama AVS ES 100's, those are kinda debatable, some people love em and some people hate em, personally i like em. Michelin Pilot Sports are always good. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's....wow, simply amazing tires, very expensive though. Ventus tires are pretty good. The Kumho MX's are supposed to be really good but i haven't heard anything about them yet. Falken Azeni's, I've heard they're good but im still skeptical, i dont really like em too much. as far as the size goes, it depends on what size rim you have. go to tirerack.com, you can find the right size there really easily. for the speed rating, definitly get an W,X,Y,or Z rated (w,x and y are all classes of Z-rated tires). hope this helps, if not email me at [email protected]. good luck. peace.

Re: New tires

oh yeah, vtec_lude, i see that mycivic suggested getting 15"s or 16"s, if ur interested in 15's, i have some Konig Reign's with tires that have about 50%tread left on them, and if you want new tires, i can get you a great deal on some. the rims were brand new when i bought em about a month ago and have been using em for winter but i need the money so they have to go. i'll sell em with the tires i have for $400 (a little more if you want new tires) plus shipping. let me know if you want em, theres a pic of em on my cardomain page... cardomain.com/id/dreams190. let me know. thanks.

People seem to be happy with Michelin and Pirelli. But I would go for some Toyo tires if you've got the money.

Unless you buy bigger rims, you are stuck with 15 inch tires.
