The VTEC Prelude is pretty much the fastest Honda, save the NSX and heavily modified cars. Only the new iVTEC engines surpass the h22 in terms of horspower.
You will beat the Civic Si, and humiliate the Accord. Auto tranmissions are not drag racers, adding several more seconds to their 0-60. Of course, this is assuming you both have the same driving skills. I dunno about a Prelude Si beating a Civ Si though... |

Re: My buddie wants to RACE MY LUDE
I always said the torque in a prelude is enough to if not match come damn close to the power of civic si vtec the civic does weigh less but not too much less if you can get a good takeoff and keep it up the lude has it

ud kill both, and u sure its a vtech f22? not just a f22, and to Aceshigh's remark on automatic transmissions and drag. id think auto would be better for drag. as long as u time it and get a shift kit, iv heard of automatic transmissions making shifts faster the humanly possible, besides with auto ud get better launhces in my opinion.

You certainly get better launches, but without a shift kit an auto car is comparatively slower than its manual counterpart. I've raced in an automatic car before, and there's nothing more annoying than getting to a point and wanting the car to shift gears but it won't.

Since the roads around here are straight and flat for miles, and we don't have any tracks in town, drag is pretty much the only thing we can do

Re: My buddie wants to RACE MY LUDE
the 94 VTEC lude would win by quite a lot
i got a 99 base lude and a race from 20-100 im ahead by around 5 cars so it's not even funny we have the same engine but u weigh a little less...so go figure...unless u can't drive

A Prelude has a Civic beat on the highway because we've got higher horsepower. Prelude Si is slower off the line (Compared to a Civic Si)because we weigh more. Prelude VTEC has enough power to counter that, but I don't think a Prelude Si can take a Civic Si.
Isn't a base Prelude like 135hp SOHC? |
