puttin in new tranny in a 88 Taurus GL

trannys shot in my 88 GL mechanic says hes gonna order one from ford, reman ofcourse, 3yr/36k warranty plus labor for $1946.00

everything else in this car has been replaced and it all runs fine

is it a good deal or a rip off? i figure the trannys 1400 and the rest labor

Not a bad deal at all. I hear that $2k to $2.5k is the going price, usually. You can do worse than a Ford reman too! A lot worse, for under $2000. Go for it.
