94 Pathy Gas Smell Via Heater
Hi --
The last couple of days when it has been really really cold there's a strong smell of gas coming into the car when I first turn the heat on. Because the check engine light goes on and off intermittently over the last two or three months I took it in and was told a new 02 sensor would solve the problem. I got that (and four new shocks -- ouch!) but the light flashed on again yesterday and this morning -- 2 degrees here --the gas smell was there again. It goes away after ten minutes or so. Last month (I have a $1000/month budget for repairs for this baby) I had a leaky hose underr the radiator that was replaced as well as the thermostat and distributor cap. Last spring I had to do the fuel pump and the harness -- something I believe my mechanic must have had custom-made in Japan as it too three weeks to get in. Just hoping someone out there has some ideas. Thanks. |

You might want to check the rubber fuel hose that connects one side of the fuel rail to the other. On my '93, the clamps were loose. This hose is located right behind the distributor cap and is about 5" long. Hope this helps!
