Weight reduction

Anyone has tried gaining power by weight reduction?? Why is the 98 grand prix way heavier than a mustang? feels like each door is like 300lb.

Re: Weight reduction

newer mustang specs(in inches)...
height-53.1
width-73.1
length-183.2
wheelbase-101.3

98 grand prix specs...
height-54.7
width-72.7
length-196.5
wheelbase-110.5

^^that's why it weighs more...it's just bigger

Here is some info from ZZP

http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/fre...eemod_home.htm

Also, you can replace the stock engine cradle w/ an aluminum one that I believe the Monte Carlos use.

Also, There will be 2 carbon fiber hoods on the market

ZZP sells some WaterPUmp pullies that are much lighter then stock
Intense sells some Race only rotors and calipers

Re: Weight reduction

The fox bodies were lighter than Grand Prix, but the new Mustang Gt are within 100 lbs of any 97+ gp. Ditch your spare tire and jack. The engine brackets as suggested by zzp. Lighter wheels...rear seat if your feeling ricey...etc etc.

Just build more power Thats what I do....

Re: Weight reduction

What about the doors and the hood? the doors seem very heavy to me.

Remove your power window and speakers that will lighten up the door.

Also there are 2 pieces of foam that could be removed.
