Question 97 Yukon Fuel Pump Problems

My 97 Yukon had the fuel pump go out at 65K, we had it replaced w/ an AC Delco fuel pump which lasted another 2 years (approx 30K miles) and now the place that we had the car towed to is trying to replace that fuel pump with an Airtech. Actually, they did replace it (twice) and now the fuel gage is messed up and jumps all around which it never has done before. I called the place that replace it last time and they said if the pump is not put in correctly and/or the reostat(?) not set correctly, that is what happens. Can anyone tell me if this is a fuel pump part problem (they have put 2 new Airtech ones in w/ the same problem) or is this a mechanic/labor problem not knowing what they are doing? And, should I have gone thru 2 fuel pumps already? Really dissapointed in this Yukon.......Thanks.

Re: 97 Yukon Fuel Pump Problems

I just replaced my pump for the first time in 300,000k not because it quit, but the noise was bugging me, I used a Carter pump and that was what I found already in the tank from the factory, try one of those, and make sure a new strainer is installed, this MUST be done otherwise the pump warranty is void.
As for the gas gauge bouncing around, it soundslike the guy putting it in might have jarred something loose, or not put it back in, in the same orientation, although I'm not sure thats able to be done.
