89' MX6 GT, 5-speed???

how you doing guys? im new to this particular forum and i did some searching around but i couldnt really find an answer to what i was looking for.

i have a 90' 300zx that i plan on doing a TT swap this coming winter so i need a pretty decent car to get me through the winter, but i dont exactly want a beater. i was looking at the 89' GT to make it a sleeper kind of. i want something reliable but quick. how quick are these cars and how reliable are they??? is there a strong aftermarket for them? parts cheap? how fast are they (1/4 mile 0-60)? how fast can you make them??

thanks in advance for all reply's.

how fast

I have a 1990 626gt that has the same engine. I went to the track with just a bov, and boost controller and ran 14.7 with nothing else done to the car. Now I have a turbo upgrade, clutch, intake and exaust and the car runs 13.0. It took me a long time and doing a lot of research to find this stuff but its weel worth it to have a car that people don't know about.

thats what i was thinking...i was thinkin that this car is more or less a sleeper just because it is turbochaged which means upgrading to good numbers is alot easier compared to most n/a engines.

Re: 89' MX6 GT, 5-speed???

im sorrie but i have to call a b.s. on this.. the f2t motor takes a hella alot more to do 14.7 then a boost controller and bov actuall a bov wont help at all in preformance it will just give you the sound..i have the f2t in my probe.. its a great motor i have never been to the track but i have beaten some quick cars that have stock 14sec 1/4 mile time, tl's gsr,03 maxima.. ect.. and i have beaten them by a car.. its is a sleeper but not as quick as people make it out to b, shit i have 2.5" turbo back, gutted cat, copper pulgs, intake, and a mbc and im boosting 12.5psi..and im probably doing a 14.5 at best...the turbo is the most restrictive part.. maybe if he has a big enuff turbo he can hit 13's but not low 13's go check the mx6/probe froums else where.. youll see what im talkin about
