Daewoo Corp. Ownership
Does anyone have an idea of how soon someone is going to take over Daewoo? I hope its pretty soon because I really think the Lanos Hatchback is an excellent car to work on, for many reasons:
1. It has a very capable engine 2. The size and weight of the car make it simple to drive. 3. The design is very basic and easy to work on. 4. Its reliable Now I don't want to say that it's at the level of Honda, but it is a good car. I really want to see some aftermarket support from someone other than scamming Korean suppliers.

You wanted to know...
Sorry I don't know how to link so I c/p'd this From AOL 12/13/03:
GM plans to stop production of the Cavalier next year, replacing it with the Chevrolet Cobalt. And even if the Cobalt's pricing takes it out of the under-$12,500 segment, GM will go after the low-price buyer with a new car, the Avevo, due in showrooms later this year. It's being built by the former Korean automaker Daewoo, which GM now owns and operates as GM-Dat. "From a cost standpoint, it certainly does help [to build in Korea]," Ballew said. "We also will leverage that product globally, selling in other markets. It will give it a very broad scope where existing Cavalier does not." http://money.cnn.com/2003/11/07/pf/a...cars/index.htm |

Re: Daewoo Corp. Ownership
Daewoo is no longer imported due to quality problems which destroyed them in the marketplace.
