Lowering a 93 Civic?

I was wondering what it's gonna cost and what I should get. I want to lower my car. (It's at stock height) I mainly want to lower the back it looks all goofy like a rally car.

But yeah, I'm wanting it lower with a ground control body kit on it (dont know what one yet).

Can anyone help me with prices of springs etc..and labor costs?

Thanks alot.

Re: Lowering a 93 Civic?

you can get good coilovers on ebay for ~$50

Its gonna cost another 50 or so to align the tires after the springs are installed.

Re: Lowering a 93 Civic?

I dont trust cheap coilovers... especially if they're no-namers. I would say go for a drop around 1.75 with a Neuspeed sport. A simple set of springs would do fine.

just for future reference, there is a suspension forum
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...play.php?f=964
which would be more appropriate than the body kit forum

Do NOT buy some $50 "coilovers"
You get what you pay for when it comes to suspension, DO NOT BE CHEAP! If you want the adjustable coilover sleeve type, I only recommend Ground Controls with Eibach springs. For springs - H&R, Eibach, Tein, Neuspeed. Any time you lower a vehicle(increase spring rates) you should always use performance struts - Koni, KYB, Tokico. If you want the good stuff then true coilovers is the way to go - H&R, Tein, Apexi. I don't recommend more than 2" drop for daily driving. Civic's do not have adjustable camber so lowering more 2" will require a camber kit -- 0-1.5" doesn't really need a camber unless you want your alignment perfect, tire wear is not an issue 0-1.5"

Labor can be anywhere from $150-$500 depending the labor rate & how they charge. Don't forget the cost of an alignement + cost of camber kit install if needed.

Right now there is a nice discount on Tein springs & REAL coilovers through AF's group buy.

OMG! Where did you get all that info from! A 4in drop with 17s? i'm pretty close to calling BS. You'd have to roll the hell out of your fenders and have super low profile tires for them to tuck in the wheel well. And if you had super low profile.. then your front bumper would sit about 1-2 inches from the ground. You would be scraping on a bumpy road.. let alone speed bumps and driveways. And if you're planning on getting camber kits for a 4inch drop... say bye to your fenders... or you'd have to cut it and extend it with fender flares to hold your wheels. Also, you kinda contridicted yourself. You said you dont need camber kits, then you said you need it cuz its "killin" your tires. Any drop beyond 1.75 should have a camber kit for even tire wear and good traction.. you want to have a good size contact patch... not a quarter of the tire from a 4inch drop, butterflied wheel. Spring compressor? I'm not going to even bother...

Re: Lowering a 93 Civic?

hey now, it's not ALL of them. my dad is a mechanic of 35+ years strictly on imports (mainly VW's and Honda's) and he is among the best mechanics i have seen (although i am just a bit biased ) as in, NO corners cut like this 4" drop moron. i kinda have to wonder how you can get 4" without bags....

oooh racist remarks.. great way to get respect, especially in one of your first few posts.

In your next posts explain who you're talking to, it sounds like you're just arguing into the dark..
