Resin Replica Subaru engine kit?

I've seen this http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?S27FP2445 on HLJ for quite some time but, as I have so many Subaru models I'm looking for a resin kit that may be a cheaper replica rather than paying $40 for these metal parts, I don't need the metal hood. Anyone know where I can find this or know of someone with resin experience that I can pay to make several replicas?

Any info is appreciated

Hmmm.... Now that I have my very own EJ motor to stare at... maybe I should start thinking about making an 1/24 copy....

$35.00 and have been for almost a year. They also include the hood pins on a small photo etch fret and the "hose" t complete the piping.
There is also a bigger set containing the aluminum wheels, disk brakes, claipers, projector lamps, I think a full PE set seat belt set. Of course it is about twice the price also.

Re: Resin Replica Subaru engine kit?

I look at it like this.. if you think you'd buy more then one of those studio27 kits, maybe it would be worth investing that money in a resin casting kit so you can dupe the engine parts for your other models (don't sell em!!). instead of spending the extra money on the studio27 kits, buy just one, and buy a resin casting kit.. then you will learn how to use resin and you have a kit that you can use to make more parts forever. just a thought.. I know I've been curious about making resin stuff for a while.. maybe 2004 I will experiment. let us know what you decide.

C'mon! It's only 40 bucks. Go buy it.
Suppose you work for a minimum wage of $5 per hour. You only need 8 hours of work. You can't scratchbuild the engine in just 8 hours, can you?

The engine kit is very effective and well worth it if you would like something a bit special. Even cheaper if you make YOURSELF a few copies.

here's a pic of one I built last year using the full upgrade pack, delux I think it was called and renaissance doors. More pics can be seen at:-

I have thought of this already, thanks for suggesting it though. I figured if I could learn resin casting then I'd buy one Studio 27 kit and make my own copies. I just don't have a big enough isolated area to really put my time into it. I also have two young children and a 5yr old nephew in the area all the time. That 5yr old could pose a serious threat to the success of such a project.

Anyway, I've received PMs in regards to a resin engine kit. I'm looking into buying more than one from the start depending on price. I already spend too much time trying the cars built, it would be hell to try and scratch build all my engines, too.
