wow, i got paints!

today, i got about 15 cans of spray paint...

and among those, was something called automotive paint, like the actual automotive paint.....

it was toyota colour, and i don't know whether it would be safe to use on model? or would it be too thick and i would lose detail?

also i found some hardware store white primer.... if that goes on too thick on the model, i can always sand it out yer?

David,
You can use automotive paints on a model but you MUST use a primer with them, you shouldn't lose any detail with the paints unless you're applying the paint too thick, as automotive paints tend to be pretty thin in consistency.

From experience, most actual hobby shop staff don't know enough about what they're trying to tell you.
The original Toyota color should look perfect on the car, just make sure to use a white primer under it, you may also need to either clear coat the car with the relevant clear or you may need to polish the paint to a gloss, a lot of automotive paints go on dullish.

LOL

He obviously hasn't used them, they are very very thin and hide less detail than the model stuff.
Almost all of mine are done with Duplicolor

I would test it first but it would seem to work, I know the other way around won't work ( Duplicolor over Tamiya)
I have used testors thinned with Automotive Lacquer thinner and they worked well mixed with auto paints.
