Angry Top Gear 9-5 vs Harrier - urgent !!!

November 16th,2003 Top Gear made unbelievable test with 9-5 Saab in race (straight line) with Harrier Jet, made many remarks on Saab Aircraft legacy.

Anyone has taped this or made it as file ? (avi,mov,...)

There is page in UK that downloads episodes, but this one is now off... (http://www.viper007bond.com/)

Someone must have filed this for this is going to become a hit.

Let us know where can we download this…anyone?

Dear Lord, this be no less but Viper himself

Honored we are to be graced with your presence.

As for sites, god only know how many of those you have

Thank you for that promise of good hope, but could you please let us know in this forum when it becomes available again, whether be on your old sites or now 2.0.

This is really a rare treat to watch Saab vs Jet, not to
mention even Jeremy mentioned that was one of the
best Top Gear episodes in general.

Much obliged

PS: How on earth did this cry for this episode find your
attention in the first place?

Thank you Viper007bond. You are my god! I've been searching everywhere for this episode, and unthankfully, I watched it the last day it was sent on BBC World I just utterly love this episode, and the Saab just looks soo gorgeous, and unlike many other car journalists (or what should I call him?), Jeremy gets the point of Saab beyond just being a car. Just hope I won't have to wait too long to see the episode up there !

Then Edonis I’m afraid you haven’t seen this episode in its full glory.

BBC World has policy of sometimes taking more then 50% of entire show and then cut only to raw driving tests, and this be with this Saab also.

So you really need to see entire episode.

When I was in UK they have Jeremy tapes even on gas stations, why on earth they refuse to make regular DVD additions of episodes available for sale?

They have money Tour De Force production, quality and presentation without pears, obviously people would buy this.

LordViper, please make this episode available (link), just for one day, so we can download it,and then take
it away.

Ah yes, All the Best in 2004.

No, unfortunately I only saw the last 5-6 minutes as well... I would buy the tape/dvd if it only were available here, but then again it isn't. So I am left without a choice, until I can get it off the net. b

Just so you know, while we wait…download only Top Gear page available at mentioned link .

You wont regret it !!!

It is Lamborghini anniversary and they have dedicated entire show to all famous models, but that is not important…Jeremy showed for the first time how these cars are really in real life far from what they are believed to be.

Jeremy is among other things parking Diablo in studio !

This also gives you great opportunity to see how the entire show of Top Gear looks like.

There are more things in each show, much more then just a raw road tests.

Re: Top Gear 95 vs Harrier - urgent !!!

Well I have found the Top Gear Saab vs Jet video !!!

Alas, even more are scarier other findings on the site which has this Saab, for what they offer is a nightmare that can keep you busy for months !

Problem is in order do download you have to register, once you do, even they admit this shame, server refuses to send you an email, and then if you want to verify request?.it says you do not exist !

So you go again and again , but nothing !

What simple Irony this quest becomes.

If someone gets lucky let us now, frankly I?m tired.

Re: Top Gear 95 vs Harrier - urgent !!!

Thank you, Volken!

It worked for me The only problem is that it's ANTI-widescreen, meaning that the car looks really tall and slim, the same with mr. clarkson! I'm no brainwiz in editing, so I don't know how to fix this

I have also sorted all problems few days after this first post and downloaded the same beauty.

I just felt considering general interest presented in participation of people in Saab forums, that all be pointless to even mention that, because nobody reads these forums anyway.

As for size, this is sadly to best of their abilities to properly capture video and instead of making from both side of the screen their site addresses.

It is much normal and easier to make a startup and end of sequence with logo of your site and everybody will see where it came from, this way they ridiculously placed both logos all the time while video runs unnecessarily making experience slightly less so.

Picture quality is good but not that good to bother editing, so I'm sure you are happy as I'm to have this if for nothing else, at least for good laugh, and laugh we will each time we look other people reactions when they see this for the first time.

Surely by now you grasped ViperBond is history, and it would take decades for him to place that video again, when clearly, he has no interest in this video.

You have to laugh from the first opening of Saab TV advert with macho mans from airplanes, for that, this one is for memory :

Re: Top Gear 95 vs Harrier - urgent !!!

The thing I love the most about this video is when Jeremy drives the Saab in second gear, over and over again, saying that the 9-5 would do it faster than a Porsche And yes, I am VERY happy to have this video, albeit it's not good enough to burn onto a dvd for tv-viewing. I'll watch it for my third time tonight

Re: Re: Re: Top Gear 95 vs Harrier - urgent !!!

The plane in the ad is a Saab 37 Viggen, with 90 seconds to 10,000 m altitude and supersonic speed it should be able to beat the Harrier if the 9-5 can't...

I'm certain it can

But I thought a certain Gripen should be Tour De Force
among Saab fly boys?

Performance as top speed and acceleration is quite similar between Viggen and Gripen and even the old Draken (which was one of the earlier mach 2 planes). The big differences is maneuverability, fuel consumption and control.

Gripen has a less powerful Volvo engine called RM12 with 80.5 kN of thrust:
http://www.volvo.com/volvoaero/globa...troduction.htm

while Viggen uses the 125 kN RM8:
http://www.volvo.com/volvoaero/globa...t+engines/RM8/

but since Gripen is much lighter and smaller it makes them quite similar in acceleration/top speed but Gripen has a lower fuel consumption. Gripen is also made in carbon fibre which removes some weight.
