Thumbs down Sore loser well...loses sorely

On the way home right now from school (left early), I happen to get next to this 2001+ Celica GT up-front at a light. The last couple of lights before this one, I noticed that he was driving "spirited", feeling invincible with his rims, exhaust, Injen sticker, and Altezzas, around the mini-vans, and mini-utes and an older Buick that were surrounding us.

He actually passed me up, so I decided to pace him a bit, and got the break I wanted, and here we were, side-by-side.

Light turns, he gasses it pretty-good, not paying attention to the lowly Sentra right next to him.

I punch it a bit and let go, just to see what he'll do. I guess he heard me, because I heard his aftermarket intake growl, as he downshifted to "show me".

Since I let him get ahead a bit, he was about half-a-car ahead when I got on it in second.

His half-a-car lead turned into a 2-car deficit by the time I wound-up 2nd. With traffic coming up ahead, I figured I showed him where he was in the automotive food-chain enough, so I backed-off.

This is where he decides to do the fly-by .

As he gets next to me, I punch it in 3rd (not optimal, I was going 45), he's about a car ahead when I stop his pull. I decided this boy needed a deeper lesson.

He makes a right-turn, and guns it, I follow-suit, but not trying to be Daredevil like he seemed to be in the process (he was squealing bad...maybe the lack of LSD? ).

Because of traffic I can just basically follow him in the one open lane, not letting him pull whatsoever. I see an opening to the right, and as I was getting ready to pass him, he cuts me off .

After that, I decided that he's more moron than I want to deal with, so I backed-off completely, and just cruised.

I couldn't help what I did next.

As I slowly passed him, as he stops in a median to turn left, I roll my window and yell out "SORE LOSER!!"

I guess he didn't like that, and he gets next to me from the median, and he yells "What!!??"

I repeat, "You're a SORE LOSER!!"

He proceeds to go straight on the median, getting in the left-turn lane I was already signalling for.

As expected, when the green arrow comes on, he comes-around like Batman after Joker, and takes-off.

Well, this time, there was NO traffic around us whatsoever, and traffic ahead at least a mile away...so this time, I really got on it.

He was about 3-4 cars ahead, but I was easily reeling him in.

As I was passing him on his passenger side, he fucking FLICKS A COIN AT MY CAR!!!! Good thing I had my window back up.

I went completely past him before I realized what the hell he did. I got in front of him and slammed my fucking brakes...I was miffed!

I didn't really want him to hit me, so right before he probably would've, I released the clutch a bit, and went forward.

With the city cracking-down on road-rage, and with both of us probably going to jail if I stepped-out, I resisted the urge, and just changed lanes to stare the fucker in the eyes (I had my window rolled-down again).

Instead of looking at me, he punches it and tries another fly-by...

This time I was ready, and got a good launch, and I just ended up waving and flipping him off as I walked away by an easy 4-5 cars (was pissed and topped-out third).

That was it for that, because he turned-off behind me somewhere.

ouch, at least you won thought... i had some ass in an audi throw a handfull of coins at me the other day, pissed me off to no end. but it's a good thing you didn't go through with doing anything physical back, the city has been pissy about driving lately... it's probably that GODDAM trolley and the fact that they know how much more screwed up the roads are going to get. nice kill tho!

Advantage of driving a POS...you have leeway to think about yourself and your consequences first before your car.

If I still had my Civic with the cherry paint, I would've flipped. Besides, he hit my window, and he didn't even ding it.

Good thing I rolled my window back up. If he had hit me on the head instead, I think I would've rammed his fucking car...

Yep same car man . I'm still just a poor, broke student until March at least, so yah...

BTW, I had funny experience last night with a late-model Impala (V6, pre-SC). We had an acceleration show-off (wasn't really long enough to be a "race"), and the guys in it asked me if I had something in the car...when I said stock, they just looked at me funny .

Hey, I know of a local Cavalier that might want to race you .

Well, here's a graph showing output to the wheels of the stock SR20DE motor, and then with some mods:

Might not look like much, but look at it in this perspective: the torque the stock SR20DE puts out at the wheels is about the same TQ-output as the Integra Type R puts-out at the wheels (with a MUCH better torque-band..sorry, KrN ), while the HP output is about the same as a stock B18A. All of this in a car that barely outweighs a Civic hatch, has EXCELLENT gearing, a 7500rpm redline, and an LSD stock.

So all-in-all, it probably has the same acceleration as a Civic hatch with a B18A (non-VTEC) swap, with the hatch's slightly lesser weight more than offset by the available TQ at every RPM the SR20DE has.

Re: Sore loser well...loses sorely

BTW, before I forget, there's huge variations in SR20DE graphs. Some dyno as low as 117HP, and some dyno as high as 130HP to the wheels.

I'm kinda hoping mine is one of the freak ones .
