EVO6 vs. EVO7 ??

HEy guys, just wondering, whats the 1/4 mile of the evo6 and the evo7??

P.s. is it true that the most allowed Bhp in Japan is 280?? if thats true how is it that the Supra RZ ( twin turbo ) has 320???

Welcome to the boards! Feel free to ask questions!

Quarter Mile for the VI is 13 flat.
I don't know VII's but supposedly it is the same or faster.

The 280 ps hp limit is called the Gentleman's agreement. Japanese manufacturers don't build cars that have horsepower over that amount. HOWEVER!! Many of the cars really do have more horses than that, but manufactures still say 280. For instance, Skyline and Lancer. Both of these cars produce well into the 300's. Hope that helps!

Believe it or not, I can't find a single number for the VII's quarter mile on the internet. I looked at Road & Track, Warrender, Lancerz.com, AutoWeek, and Auto-ASCII amongst other places. All I can find is Mitsu saying that acceleration and quarter-miles will be better than VI. I'm at work now and I'll look for quarter mile times in magazines and books when I go home. I'll be sure to look in the Sport Compact Car, (thanks for the tip, diegoaccord!) but I don't think that they have quarter mile times either. Go fig!

2 PEOPLE, 1 DRIVES A SATURN, THE OTHER DRIVES A BIG FUNKY TRUCK. TALK SHIT ABOUT ME? THE EVO VI?WTF? BTW THE DECEMBER ISSUE(RED EVO 7 ON COVER) HAS A DIRECT COMPARISON OF THE TWO. READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE, THE INFO IS NOT GRAPHED, IT IS STATED IN A PARAGRAPH. READ IT, AND TELL ME THAT A COMPARISON DOESNT EXIST AND THE 6 ISNT THE BEST EVOLUTION

not many Evo VI's can pull low 13's down the 1/4 mile. I have had E6 owners tell me this. Read all you want on websites and magazines, but the owners will give you the best info.

Trust me you little CRX driving unqouth retard. My truck would make you look as stupid as most of your posts do. I probley have as much money in my engine and bags then you do in your whole car. Maybe you learn how to be a tad bit more tactful and NOT TALK IN ALL CAPS LIKE SOME NOOB and hold a normal conversation. You wouldnt have got any guff if you didnt add the comment "you idiots".

retard.

diegoaccord: EVO7boi wasn't comparing VI and VII in all categories. He just wanted to know the quarter mile times for each. No one ever said that the VII was all out better than VI.

lancerz: that time is the best I've heard given to the VI and I believe it came from a TME. As for average times I've heard mostly 13's to low 14's. I fully agree with you, magazines and other sources don't always give you the real deal. Owners who have no vested interest in the company will give you the best info.

DJP: I actually really like the look of the Evo series. It's not beautiful like a Ferrari, but it still has that edgy agressive styling that I find cool.

Evo7boi, to answer your original question, according to Sport Compact car...

1999 Mitsu Lancer Evo VI GSR 1/4 mile: 12.9 (!) @106mph
2002 Mitsu Lancer Evo VII GSR 1/4 mile: 13.6 @ 100mph

Evo VI 12.9? jesus, what was it tested on?... did they mention if it was running on race fuel?

I'd honestly STILL prefer a Evo VI over a Evo VII. Dont ask me why, its just the way it is.
