trunk leaking?

lately my spare tire area has been filling up with water. The only place i can imagine water leaking in is from the taillight assemble. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, tail light gaskets are probably the cause. If you have a sunroof, that could be a cause as well.

Re: trunk leaking?

My taillight assembly leaked really bad in my 4D. Sealing it up with an automotive sealant from AutoZone fixed it right up, no more water rusting out that tiny spare.

On a side note, that spare looks like it belongs on a 10-speed, not any car. ;P

i have the same problem and i thought it was the tail light gasket but it wasnt. so i think its my hatch seals thats leaking, its a real problem here in hawaii so ill find out soon. let me know if oyu find out the solution.

I'll tell you an easy way to tell! I did this! Put tape over the taillights! Not the outside that part that sits under the hatch! If you still get water after that, then you have another problem!
