civic vx headers
I recently swapped in a single cam VTEC engine into my 94 vx to replace the VTEC-E piece of junk that was in there stock. I retained the stock exhaust manifold due to the catalytic converter being integrated onto the manifold. I just bought an aftermarket header through mail order and haven't received it yet. I was wondering if the aftermarket header would match up to the stock exhaust pipe underneath without having to buy a catalytic converter from an EX civic. If anyone has actually tried please let me know.
Thank you

You shouldn't have a problem with the bolt-up.

Re: civic vx headers
I'm pretty sure that the 6th gen and maybe 7th gen civics are the only ones with the one piece cat and exhaust manifold

Re: civic vx headers
I did it on my 98 DX (about 2 months ago), and yes, it will bolt right up. Depending on the header outlet diameter, though, you will need to buy a new, larger gasket. I also had to trim the springs holding those flanges together, since I wasn't able to compress them enough to get the nuts on the bolts. This took about 5 minutes and one Dremel cutting wheel. If you have any trouble with it, let me know - I should be able to help.
