Re: 97 blazer needs trans already

I have a 2000 blazer with 100,000 and it has been rebuilt twicw already. Let me guess, you lost reverse, 2nd and overdrive? about 1700.00 at aamaco.

well... i brought my baby to 'quality transmissions' in newmilford ct... i guess this guy is awesome @ rebuilding trannys.... *sigh* $1800.
i had the truck a MONTH since i bought it.. 2 weeks into having it the starter blew... 2 weeks after that, before a HUGE snow storm the tranny goes.. i hope this is the end of the bad luck...

My 97' blazer did the same thing, and it turned out just to be a module in the transmission that went bad.

Mine just went out last month but I got a little luckier than that. I had 160,000 on my '97. I just replaced the tranny. Found a used one with 70,000 on it and got it and replaced for $900. But now I have problems starting the dang thing. Did anyone else have problems starting after the trans failed.

my bad luck trend continued.. i paid over $1600 to get my tranny rebuilt, and it went again after 400 miles.. Thankgod for the warranty.. It went Xmas eve, i didnt get it back until New Years Day... Stinky. but oh well. i got it back and since i put on a bug deflector, CHEVY mud flaps, tail light covers, clear blue headlights, waxxed it and what not. she looks BEAUTIFUL. i even put black 4x4 decals on the sides.. the black on white looks AWESOME!!!! espcially since shes so shiney, compounded, waxxed and has the black BLACK privacy glass.

Angry 97 blaxer

I have a 97 blazer that is on it's 3rd trans, 3rd heater core, 3rd gas guage, 2nd fuel pump, and is in the shop right now for the trans again. This time they said it was an electrial problem...that the sending switch is not sending the right info to the trans so it defaults to 3rd gear...Thankfully, I purchased major guard the 2nd time we went back for repairs (it was stll covered on the 90 day dealer at the time)

when this transmission 4L60E suddenly looses reverse// the sun-shell
has broken//stripped ect/ect.It's the weakest component in that
transmission. Should also loose O/D..
To solve this problem// a person should come to a complete stop WHEN
shifting from rev to drive /// drive to rev. Now the sun-shell is NOT
subject to the shearing force that causes it to break!!!!
The part is a piece of crap/// but that bit of caution will keep you out of the repair shop!!!

Re: 97 blazer needs trans already

A Few Solutions For All Of These Problems....
Grenade, Fire, A Few Boxes Of Ammo, Etc.
Buy A Vehicle That You Don't Have To Worry About Or Work On. My 83 Toyota Pickup Has Needed About $600 Of Work In The The 4 Years I've Had It And That Included A Tranny Rebuild. At 174,000 Miles It Still Starts At 30 Below When New Cars Don't. I Like Not Having To Worry About Shit Breaking Every Time I Start It. Its Nice. Give It A Try.

Tell me about it. as i said mine went twice... around 79,400 then again at 79,900... hahahaha. within 2 weeks!!! Well anyway i bet you lost REVERSE, 2nd and overdrive... the second time i lost just Second.. ITs running GOOD now.. but youre looking in the ballpark of about 1600 - 1800$$$$...
it sucks but what can you do.. How long have you had your blazer for?

What exactly happens when the heater core goes? Mine gets ALITTLE "warm" but does not HEAT the car... Air usually does not shoot out, even on HIGH.. SOmetimes it will puff out alittle air. If i sit @ a light or anything the air turns cold. quick. Being in CT, in the winter, its 10 degrees out now. and i hate driving with 10 layers on.. How much does it caust? I heard its HARD to put in.. is it? How much if you buy it and have it professionally installed?
