Air conditioner core removal????

I've spent a lot of time trying to get the heater core out(finally succeeding)
but I thought that now that I've gotton the heater core out should I replace the air conditioner core while I'm at it so I dont have to do it later. Do the air conditioner core ever go out???How hard is it to get them out???
thanx

Re: Air conditioner core removal????

I take it you're talking about the evaporator core. I've never seen one go bad on any of the Golf/Jetta series. Condensor cores can go bad, usually because something hits them, but evaporators are pretty protected. If you have the heater core out it's not too much more to do it, but you'll have to take down & recharge the A/C system.

air conditioner removal???

I was thinking of saving a couple pounds and removing my A/C instead of recharging it. Anyone have any comments on this?
