In need of opinions!

OK...I'm 15 and ive been saving money for a 89 CRX for a long time...well not so long. but I can say im not that far away from getting one. Soooo heres where i need help:

I am determined to settle for no less than a b18b in it. How much does a mid mileage b18b cost? Engine and Transmission?

NExt, I've done my research and ive found motor mounts for this particular swap. $350 for four mounts. Other than wiring(soder gun armed) axles, and possible engine compartment fitting (im including exaust with that), what would be some problems? I have access to a cherry picker so getting it out isnt a problem

Then, after i do the neccisary suspension mods (springs, shocks, possible bushings, 15's or 16's and some decent rubber) what else would i need to do to make this thing street worthy?

And then comes possible power adders. Im planning on a 2 1/2 custom mandrel bent exuast for around 300 (school equipment used). How much would a vtec head cost and how much would the conversion cost? Ive seen kits for $150 that take care of hosing and stuff, but well i want to hear personal experience on this please.

Finally, with a LS/vtec in a 89 CRX with appropriate suspension mods, how far off a mustang gt would i be?

the b18b is a good choice but dont forget about the b18a basically the same thing. and i would try to stay 0bd0 because the wiring is easier. as for price its hard to say. i got 2 b18a's with one ls tranny for $980. your problems will be like any other b series swap. remember you need an intermediate shaft, shift linkage, and ecu. you will want to replaces oil gasket, head gasket, thermostat, water pump, timing belt, i forget what else.

as for the vtec head. i would wait on that. check out this site. http://www.importreview.com/reviews/lsvtec.html . if you dont want to look into turbo (which i think is the best think for the ls motor) then you should look into some aftermarket camshafts, give you the most for your money. just a stock ls in a crx should be anywhere from mid 15s, to high 14s, should be able to hang with some mustangs.

I agree with this 100% also get a set of crower cams 62403 or 62404's and you will be happy.

hmmm....i was wondering that....whats the compression on a b18a/b? I was thinking about a turbo setup (homebrewed of course) and i really didnt think vtec mattered that much on a turbo. How much would a reliable 275 horses cost on a turbo-ed LS engine?
