Need HELP with Window Motors

First off, Happy New Years to everyone. Now down to business. I have a 1997 WS6 Trans Am, and I need to replace both window motors. I purchased a repair manual, but no instructions. Does anyone know the process to removing the motors. I have no problem getting the Door panel off. I have heard that you have to drill out rivets and also heard that there is a danger because it is spring loaded. Can anyone out there give me some aid?

i have the same peoblem on my 98 TA, i have the motors, but the shop said ~$200 to do it all?? gimme a break, i know its hard, but i want to see if i can do it myself... any help would be appreciated

If it's the kind I'm thinking of (One arm that reaches into the lower window track)the springs won't snap at you until the motor is removed from the window regulator. After you remove the door panel find a few short peices of heater hose. Carefully insert them between the inner door panel and the glass this will keep the glass from dropping after the rivets are drilled out. On some rivets you might be able to knock the metal center out then the drilling is easy. After removing the rivets and unplugging the window motor plug fish the motor/regulator assembly out of the door. The motor might be riveted or bolted to the regulator. If its the spring type try to find a way to hold it in place like a couple pair of vise grips before you remove the motor (do this away from the car in case it does snap at you).
