New User with 300zx / Chevy 350 questions

I have been interested in swapping a Chevy 350 into a 300zx, but I don?t know if it'll even work.
I do not own the car or the engine yet, so this is all just in my head.
The vehicle would be a "fun" car for the weekends at a track somewhere.

Is this a good/bad Idea?

Does anyone make engine-mounting kits for this?

And of course - where could I get more info on this?

Thanks...

Better idea....

LS1 in a 240/260/280 Z

I beleive the hood line is too low on the 300z to accept a V8 engine. Look at some pics of one with the normal engine , that 3.0 is pretty crammed in there . Fitting something 2.7 liters BIGGER in there is gonna be impossible.

Another good idea.... 1st gen RX7 , same motor......

Cool A very easy thing to do...

The Z Gods came up with that fix some time ago...

I am new to this forum... actually I was just cruising through and wanted to share with you a nice place to shop.

impossible? i fit something not only 2.7 liters bigger than the 3.0L engine, but something 3.6L bigger..... that's more than twice the size of the stock engine.

more pics or buy the car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2444028372

nothings impossible when it comes to cars... if you have enough money.

When I started this thread (Several months ago, ahem ) I was asking about a 1990+ 300zx. But I have since completely lost interest in this idea.

Also there is no way in hell I'd take a once computer controlled EFI car and carburet it.

Just curious, What does that car weigh now?

im not the one who brought the thread back, lol

car probably weighs around 3100-3200 lbs. only added 100 lbs or so.

if not its pushing a lot more hp to the wheels then estimated, based on previous owners timeslip of a low 14sec run...

Talking Don't loose the idea...

I am up here in Portland, Oregon... I can get ya some pics and stats of a friend who has a '91 Zcar that has a '92 LT1 Fuel injected (I may be wrong on the engine year), turbo charged that runs a "SICK" time in the 9's!!! And it's a daily driver. (Dry days only )

The draw back to his prgram was it took him 3.5 years to complete the project. He had to cut away a small hole for the turbo. But everything else fits under the hood.

His instrument cluster has all been reworked as the Nissan gauges would not do the job any longer.

A small side step to hit the original question regarding mounts.... J.R. custom made his mounts. His challange was creating a custom wiring harness and trying to keep the car from breaking away during a "Hole-Shot".

I'll start diggin for the pics. No Lies.. This car is impressive...

Just my worth of nadda...

I have video footage of J.R. doing a 8.9 1/4 mile at Portland International Raceway. His car is awesome.

It has V8 + Turbo + Nitrous.
